The ladies are all asleep so I thought I'd do a bit of posting....
Ahhhhh, the peace and soothing tranquility of a late summer, west Texas, gentle sprinkling of rain...
Never, NEVER, in my 56 years have I ever seen rain and lightning like we had last night! OMG!!!!
Obviously, by the time these shots were taken, it was just about over. I'm figuring that the center of the street had to have been about 3 to 4 feet deep and I wouldn't even hazard a guess as to the speed of the water as it was moving along, but it was fast!
For comparison purposes...
Above, last night. ~ Below, this morning. Look closely and you can see the water line on the stones and driveway.

Again, last night and this morning and note water line in the stones. Those little bushes you see below were completely submerged at the high water mark.
Today, the street looks like a dry river bed instead of the nice, clean, new, concrete street that it is. Adding to all the fun, most people, just like us, had put their garbage and recycle cans out and they were all overturned and carried away. We got two back but I don't think that they're necessarily the ones we started with. This street ends at the "T" intersection about 150 yards down and that street looked like a garbage dump littered with the overturned cans, bags of garbage and various loose recyclables.
On a better note, today is a beautiful day and we went to Ft. Bliss early for a Change of Command ceremony for one of the units in Eric's battalion. It was held at the main hanger and, as you can see, little Miss Nina made herself right at home on the tarmac outside of the hanger.
With he Papa next to his airplane.
The rest of his arduous day will be spent on the golf course with his brigade and battalion comanders. No, he's not the caddy......
