Here we go again!

So, I get home from playing tennis today.  Stephanie looks at me and says, "Let's go to Omaha and get the dog."  We've been looking at dogs and Steph fell in love with one that she saw in a kennel in Omaha.  So, being the softie that I am, I say "Ok." 

About 4 hours later, we pull in to the house with these two.  Mind you that BOTH left a deposit in my van.  Lucky for me I had some posterboard down over the carpet.  No harm done. :) Anyway, we got a boy Welsh Corgie and a girl Golden Retriver/English Springer.  So this time we have one upper middle sized and one small.  Funny thing, Stephanie picked out the Golden and I picked out the Corgie.  They are named Harry and Maggie respectively.  Here are a few pictures.  I'll apologize in advance to Mom and Dad.  The house may not be up to our usual standard of cleanliness this time around.  It's going to be more of a challenge keeping it in shape with these two.

PS:  The children in this area have no school today either.  Not because of Presidents' Day, but because of an ice storm that has pretty much shut us all down.  And they're forecasting more to come. :-(

Caitlin's First Dance

Today, Caitlin and I went to the 1st annual Daddy/Daughter dance.  She was so adorable!!  We danced to some tunes.  She did the Chicken dance, the Hokey Pokey, and the Macarena.  Then, she got with her friends and decided that she was done dancing with daddy.  She made me a card at the craft table before we left.  It was a most memorable night and I'm looking forward to next year.

Happy Birthday little sweetie!  We all wish you were feeling better, but really hope that you enjoy your special day.  We know that Mommy, Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa are looking forward to enjoying it with you.  We hope that birthday cake will make you feel much better and will bring out that very cute smile that you have!

February 1, 5:00 PM......

Here comes the snow.  The blizzard has begun, blowing hard out of the northeast.  We've heard forecasts all the way from 10-24" by tomorrow night.  We'll keep you posted.  What's going on elsewhere?  I see the governor of Missouri has declared a state of emergency with freezing rain yesterday and snow today.  And Ohio is supposed to get freezing rain as well.  What's up in Iowa?  I see Chicago is forecast to get 24".  Bryan, I hope your parents stay warm and dry and all the rest of us too!

February 2 Update:

Checked in on everyone today and it seems we are all good.  Ice and snow in Iowa and Ohio, just snow in Michigan.  We got dug out this afternoon.  We had at least a foot and the drifts were 18-30" deep.  I'm sure they are higher in Iowa!  That wind was wicked......
